Recommended Spacing : 14" - 18" apart for most garden planting situations - can be grouped into plantings of 2 - 3 plants in one location with a tighter spacing if desired. Diseases / Insects : No serious threats are known to exist for this variety, although can never rule out the occasional garden snail, slug, or other related commonly seen garden inhabitants. Flowers appear starting in early to mid summer, and last right through until fall frost. Flowers are multi-petaled, much like Daisies, with a dark, arched, somewhat protruding center.giving it the name of "cone" flower. Sun Exposure : Full to partial sun - best blooming, and best color in full sun Remove composted leaves / pine needles in early spring. We strongly recommend pruning the entire plant down to a height of 3" - 4" after the first frost, and then covering with a healthy layer of composted leaves / pine needles, etc for extra insulation over the winter. Hardiness Zones : 3 - 9 will suffer some branch die back in the coldest zones, but will still come back in spring. Growth Rate : Moderate to fast ( 8" - 14" avg per yr ) Mature Height : 12" - 16" ( flowers usually extend up to around 24" ) Just an all around good perennial flowering plant with great color.
